I-Con 27: I did it all for the lulz.

Apr 7, 2008 11:38pm

It was a blast. I did the planned Dr. Venture (to much accolade)/John Locke (to much apathy)/Guitar Hero (to much confusion) costume-a-day.

The panels all went over really well, aside from the usual "first panel of the con/first Sunday morning panel" weak turnout, because people are arriving/oversleeping on those days. Both OMGWTF! screenings went really well, as well as the "What the Hell's A Furry, Anyway?" panel -- the "Fun With Raptors" alongside ScullyRaptor went surprisingly good as well, considering that we pretty much produced the entire production from hammerspace.

We got a lot of great feedback on the OMGWTF! Furries II trailer. Well, nothing constructive, really. Simply that it was funny - there weren't any parts that didn't at least merit a chuckle. And, interestingly, at different showings (both packed in our tiny classrooms), some bits went unnoticed on Saturday but gave rise to raucous laughter on Sunday.

Mitsu, Amadeus, DS, and I spent the con together, intermittently joined by a revolving cast including Wag!, Floe, Luna, Norby, Jen & Sean, Mr. F, the Nekomancer, and others who I am too tired to recall at the moment. (Apologies!) It was awesome seeing everyone I don't usually see, including, but by no means limited to, Cali, Fossil, Scully, and meeting everyone else. I was invited to Cali's (twice!) but unfortunately had to decline -- I've been extremely exhausted lately due to academics being CrazyGoNuts this time of year.

But, unfortunately, thats all the time I have to write. Billy West was there and really cool, he signed my wireless Les Paul faceplate, and I picked up some neat Batman and Harley Quinn prints in the dealer's room. We tried to LARP but they were kind of uptight about letting people in after it had started (apparently you have to arrive at the beginning of the 5-hour programming block and stay for its entirety) -- however it looked liked boring politics LARP and not awesome boffer swords LARP anyway, so John Locke wasn't having any of that, no siree!

Back to work! And thanks to Jon Cornetto for doing programming and everyone who came to our panels for supporting us.

I'm making a note here: HUGE SUCCESS.

Ahhh, thanks guys! We'll probably be at 28, but Brentwood sucks. ;)

Yeah, both the movies were extremely funny. The "What the hell's a furry anyway" panel turned into a mess of internet jokes by the end - just my kind of humor XD

I loved the "What the Hell's a Furry, Anyway?" panel. ^^

"OMGWTF! Furries," both one and the trailer for two, was great also. Planning on going to I-CON 28? =P
