Okay, now that my brain isn't dead and I'm no longer a grumpy-bat, I figured I'd update you all to what pulled me out of the loop for a week. I went to Reno, NV to help my dad clean out my late-grandfather's old home. It was hard, both physically and emotionally, but I'm glad I got to do it. My dad and I discovered his flight gear from when he was part of the Army Air Corp in ww2, and several old old pictures from the turn of the century from Grandpa's genealogy work.
I got to bring home some of the pictures I found, including a couple of Grandpa's service pictures, a photo of my folks on their wedding day, and a few others. I also found Grammie Alma's old dress gloves, and Grandpa's cufflinks. I'm also now the proud owner of an actual French Beret, that I'm pretty sure was my grandmother's, but I'm not positive, and neither was Dad.
I have more I put on a "wishlist" for Dad to maybe set aside for me once he gets everything finished at the house, things that I discovered and liked, or that no one had claimed--like Grandma's mink stole and a few other things.
Let's see--what else. Oh yes! Alex got accepted into grad school in Wichita State, so we'll be moving BACK across Kansas to Wichita. That'll be really nice--close to both our families, near to major civilization! Whoo!
Other than that, not much going on on this end :) Other than the fact that I have a part-time job now as a paper-stuffer every Friday at the local newspaper :)
From your well-rested, happy bat,
Ecco
