About Me

Kurisha noun. (cur-re-shaw) 1. Strange, shy, and quirky. Keeps to self most the time, but likes the company of those she trusts. Not much of an artist but she likes to draw none-the-less. Chocolate is one of her guilty pleasures; 2. A furson who laughs at everything, this includes people falling of chairs. Part of a 'girl' group

That's a general definition of who I am.

But to be put on a deeper level, starting with "Kurisha"'s history....

Hello, my name is "Kurisha Lin" and I'm 20 in the fandom. But in reality my name is Amy and I'm only 18. My fursona is two years older than I because I've been told I look older than I actually am. I have been a fur since about 2002, though not formally introduced into the fandom until 2006.

When I started out, I was just a fan of Yu Yu Hakusho, a popular Japanese anime series in the US at the time, and decided I was a demon like Yokko Kurama. Though unlike his appearance, I decided my demon self would be more animalistic in appearance. I was a hybrid demon, being a crossbred of a black wolf and a silver fox, a wolfox if you please. If that even makes sense.

In essence, my first fursona was no more than a whimsical dream of an "otaku."

Then in 2006, my sophmore year of high school, my unknown fursona had stuck with me and had finally been given an official name: "Kurisha Lin Itagawa." It fit, as the fursona was derived from Japanese inspiration. Kurisha had become a part of me that I cherished and wished to exert in some way. At this point, I had heard the terms "fur," "furry," and "fursona" and was vaguely aware of what they were, but I wasn't quite certain if labeling "Kurisha" as my "fursona" was the right thing to do or not; I hadn't considered myself a "furry" in the fullest of extents.

That same year I meet a guy that just sort of fell into my group of friends rather quickly. He was an artist of sorts and I looked at his notebook quite often. I would see a tigeress and a female cat in it and immediately knew it was "anthro" art. I asked him about it, as I wasn't fully aware that "anthro" was a popular style of art as I rarely came across it. That's when I had heard someone refer to their-self as a "fur" or "furry." Of course, I asked him what it was, as I only knew what it meant vaguely.

Not much of an answer was given, but I did receive a website address to visit. It took a few days of arguing with myself before I went and visited the site. To my surprise, it was a "furry" community that introduced teens into the fandom. On a whim, I joined and introduced myself; though Kurisha had gone from being a wolfox to being a plain old ordinary red fox. Typically one of the most common "fursonas" of the fandom. Something I had not known at the time.

That was my first step into the fandom and one I couldn't take back--even if I wanted to. I was officially a "furry" and was quite proud of myself for coming to terms with that part of me.

In 2008, Kurisha received a make-over of sorts. She went from being a red fox to being a "domestic fox." Traits being black and white fur with floppy ears. Though, I made her paws red so as to keep a bit of the old fur color in it. But early this year (2009), I changed the red to blue and changed her into a Labrador/Rottweiler mix, though her markings were still that of her former fox version.

As of now, Kurisha has no specific species, but is still very much canine. Her new appearance can be seen here.

That's it for now. Next time I remember I have this blog, I'll get into a bit more of my personality, so as to have a better understanding of Kurisha.
