I joined the furry fandom fairly recently actually, Partly out of curiosity but mostly 'cause it looked cool and the people were awesome and still are ^_^

I think furry is about discovering yourself. lots of people are quite shy and timid until they join the fandom. It just brings out the best in people ^_^
