I've been in Southampton, studying Film at the Solent University for two weeks now, and I still don't think it's sunk in.
Last week we grouped up, went out and filmed our first 'movie'. Sure it was a collection of stills run over in PowerPoint, but screw it, if La Jette can do it, so can we! (In fact, that was the point!)
Since then, we've had a handful of lectures, attended screenings of 12 Monkeys and The Matrix... (Oh the humanity! And as the year goes on I get forced... FORCED I TELL YOU! To watch The Terminator, Usual Suspects, Road to Perdition, Blade Runner, Seven... I don't know if I can take it!) formed groups and had full blown discussions about Film as an art form, as a cultural construct and all sorts of film buff faggottry.
I've met up with the local Anime Society, who've introduced me to a whole bunch of awesome series. I've been so disconnected from the Anime scene it's not even funny!
There is a HUGE roleplaying community down here, but no official RPG society at the Solent... (Hmmm.. is that destiny I hear on the breeze?)
Hell, I've not long ago had a girl in my room! A REAL girl! I'm telling you she was cute too! And no head injuries or anything! We watched a few episodes of Yatzee's Zero Punctuation games reviews together! Can you even believe that? I can barely believe it... and I was there!
I just cant believe it's happening! I keep waiting for a satellite to fall on my head or something, because things just don't go this good for me! I've always had the kind of life that makes me think I shagged a sacred goat in a previous existence!
Sure, it's not all awesome... I miss my folks, my bro and the dogs & cat. Not necessarily always in that order, but still. And I did have to go through a screening of 'Remy and Michelle's High School Reunion.'.
But the awesome usually outweighs the bad stuff a shitload-or-more-to-one.
Life is just freaking brilliant right now... 10 years. TEN YEARS of working my ass off and re-building my char-broiled brain, nothing but stacking shelves, running cash registers and explaining Buy-one-get-one-free deals, also a full year scrabbling for every possible credit at the highest level possible in a one-year college course... (It's official on my certificate now, Most credits of ALL students that year... I got 96 All at the highest level! Number 2 was 70-odd and a mix of levels 2-3!) !
Just goes to show, when you follow your dreams, wish on a star and keep a song in your heart... Fuck all will happen, unless you get your ass to work!
Love and hope to you all!
Kev.

Yeah, Kev (Jowgenetsu) says you've spoken to me, and also spoke very highly of me *blush* so I was rather intrigued how we both know each other :-p
I was worried you may have had me confused with someone else - the last person to do that confused me with a northern panda who accused him of being a paedophile XD So, naturally, I wanted to know if we actually knew each other before any drama happened XD
Look forward to seeing you when ya get down here! :-)

Oh well, at least we figured it out quickly, right? Took a long time to fix though.
And I added you as a friend. =P *Hugs.*
