A small crisis... help?

Copy pasta from my furaffinity (http://www.furaffinity.net/user/leahtaur/). Most of the links in this entry are NSFW. Thanks guys. :)

Lots of stuff has been happening to me lately. o_o My boyfriend of four years (living together for three) has been in the hospital's psyche ward for the past month and a bit, with a chemical imbalance.

Basically he's almost a completely different person. It's like he's a child again. He has irrational fears: people coming to kill him, hackers stealing his identity, his parents (who have been absent from his life for the past three years, I should mention) trying to keep the two of us apart, the police keeping surveillance on me, etc.

To go back to the beginning, he was normal until about 48 hours before he was committed. It came on very suddenly; we think that part of it is just something that would've happened anyway. He's a 22 year old man, and apparently this is a common age for males to have drastic changes in their mental makeup, if it's going to happen at all. But a lot of it is probably due to stress. He was throwing himself into job-hunting desperately, going at it for hours and hours a day, because he felt he needed to provide for me. I have a decent-paying job of my own, but nevertheless, that's how he felt. His income is important, of course, which is the reason for this journal... More below.

So on the morning he was committed, he told me he had a job interview. At 7 am, while I was still getting ready to go to work. Obviously I thought this was pretty weird, and I intended to talk to him about it, but I was running late and he left the apartment and took a cab while I was in the shower.

I arrived at work to see him talking to the police, with paramedics working in the background. He had come to the security desk, asked to get through to see me (I work on the 11th floor). Because I wasn't even there yet, security refused. An electrician who happened to be there backed up the guard. My kind, sweet, nonviolent boyfriend reacted by punching the electrician in the face.

The police first took him to a neurology ward in one hospital, rather than straight to the police station -- something I'm eternally grateful for! The electrician chose not to press charges; I've since met and spoken to him and he's such a forgiving guy. I'm obviously not happy that this happened, but it could have been so much worse if not for these people's understanding.

So the neurology ward had him heavily sedated (ie, he couldn't answer simple questions without a minute's thought, and he occasionally drooled) and restrained, feet and hands. It was terrible to see him like that. He didn't understand what had happened at that point, and when I had to leave after each visit he would sob and scream, not understanding that I would be coming back the next day. He also said some bizarre things, including some really inappropriate things to my sister that he would never normally say. My sister, my boyfriend and I are all really close and used to hang out all the time, so she took it kind of hard.

After a few weeks he was transferred to the psyche ward in a different hospital, which was much better equipped to handle someone mentally ill. He's no longer restrained, and his adjusted medication allows him to have (mostly) normal conversations, and even play Monopoly. (A really messed up version of Monopoly, I have to admit, lol.) He understands what got him there and he seems to feel real remorse, both for hurting a stranger and for the strange things he's said to myself and my family. Something that's not so encouraging is that he's tried to escape a few times; he's gotten as far as outside the hospital and into the nearby reservoir, in freezing weather. So I think he just has good days and bad days, and that I shouldn't let the illusion of progress get my hopes up too much. I just want my man back.

Now to the point -- and if you read all that, thanks for listening. :) Our income is now cut by more than half and the bills are coming in hard and fast. His ambulance ride alone is $350; his health care bill is $250 (I just feel thankful that we live where we do and that the government covers everything else, including his hospital stay and so far, his medication). I've never had to open "emergency commissions" before but I think that the situation justifies it. Even if you can only afford a sketch I'd sure appreciate it!

All prices begin with a single character, and go up from there for more characters and backgrounds. Note me for exact quotes if you have something unusual or with more than one character. Also please note that I retain printing rights, so if you don't want your commission being made into a print in the future, let me know. And fanart of games/animes/tv shows are a-okay! ...someone else's personal characters not so much, unless I have their creator's permission.

*laughs* No problem =3 Oh, I don't mind about the art thing XD I've often browsed nude stuff even with people looking over my shoulder in the house =P Something either catches their eye and they like it or it'll spook them away X3 And thanks for the hair comment XD I've had lots of people say it's pretty and would kill for it. It can be really nice and soft, but on a lot of these hotter weeks, if I can't get a shower it, it feels icky to me X/ Also, I have a problem of some strands breaking short when I'd tie it back, so, I'd have a small foof blowing around my face which can be rather annoying DX ...sorry for the long shout. I'll try not to do that again.
